Ford 6.0 and Ford 7.3 Fuel Spring
ATTENTION: Ford has released that 6.0 Ford Powerstroke Injector failure can be due to LOW fuel pressure. THIS IS THE FIX FORD HAS BEEN LOOKING FOR. SAVE ON COSTLY REPAIR BILLS, GAIN MPG AND UP TO A 20HP GAIN!!

The stock fuel pressure spring runs about 60-80psi of fuel pressure on a 7.3 and 50-55psi on a 6.0 at idle give or take some depending how long it has been run and the condition of the pump. Fuel pressure can add both power, drivability, and fuel mileage. This is also a must when chips, tuners, and larger injectors have been added.

86d Ford Springs The Eighty Six'd Fuel Pressure Spring differs from the stock spring in two ways:
  • First is in fuel pressure. It raises fuel pressure in both the 7.3 and 6.0 Fords. For example: On a stock 6.0 fuel pressure is 50-55lbs at idle and 39lbs at WOT, our spring raises it to about 75-80 PSI at idle and 50-55lbs at WOT. Ford's WOT test says it should be 50-55 to prevent injector failure.
  • Second difference is in pressure loss due to cyclic fatigue. The stock spring loses about 25% of its spring tension in 10,000 cycles. The Eighty Six'd spring loses about 1% to 3% of its spring tension in 1,000,000 cycles. Not bad for a $25.00 upgrade that can be installed in 15 minutes!!
Installation is simple and requires no special tools (except for a T-27 torque bit). You simply remove the pump cover pieces and then remove the two T-27 torque screws (4 on the 6.0) on the drivers side of the pump. Carefully separate the line from the pump and remove the spring (careful not to lose or damage the o-ring seal). Install the new spring making sure it seats properly, and button it back together, once again making sure that the o-ring gets or stays in its proper place.

This fix will permanently optimize fuel pressure the right way and prevent the need for trying to achieve the same results by using potentially damaging and leak-causing shimming of the weak stock spring.

Eighty Six'd Hi-Flow Power Outlet
Need to lose more exhaust heat? The Eighty Six'd Hi-Flow Power Outlet can easily reduce exhaust temperatures over 100 degrees for less than $200.00! While upgrading your turbo or exhaust system, we recommend always installing a Eighty Six'd Hi-Flow Power Outlet on the turbo to replace the stock outlet piece. This will eliminate the stock EBP valve on most applications, and further reduce exhaust backpressure even on a non-EBP valve equipped motors. The stock outlet piece has three major flaws, all of which are remedied with this long overdue casting.

  1. In most states it contains an electronic backpressure valve to aid engine warm up times. This butterfly valve is located at the worst possible position as far as performance is concerned. It is right where the exhaust is exiting the turbo transitioning from high pressure pre-turbo to lower post turbo pressures. This results in an expansion of the exhaust gas trying to occur right where it hits a huge restriction (the e.b.p valve). This is further amplified by the fact that the exhaust gasses are exiting the turbine in a swirling vortex and hitting the flapper valve within inches of the turbine wheel, further slowing exhaust flow. The Eighty Six'd casting has no valve or provision for a valve!

  2. The stock casting has a divider wall between the wastegate valve outlet chamber and the main exhaust outlet. This is a bad idea when trying to increase exhaust flow because it forces the wastegated exhaust to back up before it can enter the main exhaust stream and exit the casting. Keep in mind that the exhaust exiting the wastegate valve is coming out at a higher pre turbo pressure so when it has to reverse flow and try to enter the exhaust stream just upstream of the e.b.p. valve, it certainly doesnt help exhaust flow! The Eighty Six'd casting has removed this dividing wall completely.

  3. Next is the inside diameter of the exhaust outlet. Stock is about a 2.8 i.d. with the very restrictive valve making its effective diameter much less. The Eighty Six'd casting is an unrestricted 3.2i.d., perfect for, and compatible with any performance exhaust systems with a 3.5 or 4 downpipe.

This exhaust outlet casting should drop exhaust temperatures about 150 degrees on a stock turbo and will optimize the exhaust flow with the Eighty Six'd 7.3 turbo!
